The Ultimate It Girl Room Makeover Guide ✨🎀
Let’s make your room somewhere you genuinely never want to leave ♡
There is something so magical about walking into your bedroom and immediately feeling inspired. Not because it’s perfectly curated or straight out of Pinterest but because it feels like you.
Your room is where you wake up every morning. It’s where you spend late nights studying, where you cry over exam stress, where you binge your comfort shows, where you dream about your future, where you journal, get ready for school, and spend countless hours simply existing.
It deserves to make you feel good.
One thing I’ve realised recently is that becoming that girl or having “it girl vibes” isn’t about buying hundreds of expensive decorations overnight. It’s about creating a space that motivates you to romanticise your everyday life.
You don’t need a huge bedroom.
You don’t need designer furniture.
You definitely don’t need to spend thousands.
Some of the cutest rooms I’ve ever seen have been created with second-hand finds, magazine pages, fairy lights, and a little creativity.
So if you’ve been staring at your room thinking, something just feels off, here’s your guide to giving your bedroom the ultimate it girl makeover.
Let’s make your room somewhere you genuinely never want to leave ♡

Your Walls Set The Entire Vibe
If there’s one thing that completely transforms a room without replacing any furniture, it’s your walls.
Blank white walls can make even the prettiest room feel unfinished.
Your walls are basically the backdrop of your life. Every selfie, every mirror picture, every study session, every morning getting ready—they’re always there.
So make them beautiful.
One of my favourite ways to decorate walls is with magazine pages.
Buy a fashion magazine from your local shop—or maybe even one of our very own Sakuranbo Magazine issues! (If you're new here, I'm the founder and editor of Sakuranbo Magazine, which has been such a dream project to create.) Cut out pages that genuinely inspire you. Maybe it’s a gorgeous Chanel campaign, a dreamy Paris mood board, a page filled with soft pink Pinterest pictures, or simply just leave the whole magazine up on the wall with a cute magazine wall rack.
Another easy upgrade?
Gold frames.
I’m convinced gold frames make absolutely everything look expensive.
Print your favourite artwork, fashion photography, quotes that motivate you, vintage illustrations, or travel posters and frame them.
You don’t even have to spend much. Charity shops and discount home stores always have beautiful frames waiting to be given a second life.
The mixture of framed prints and magazines creates that perfect balance between polished and effortlessly cool.
It’s giving fashion editor’s apartment.
It’s giving main character.
It’s giving the room you’ve been saving on Pinterest for three years.
Create Your Dream Bed
Your bed is probably the biggest thing in your room which means it should also be the prettiest.
Making your bed every morning sounds so simple, but it genuinely changes how your room feels. Even if the rest of your room isn’t spotless, a made bed instantly makes everything feel calmer.
Then comes layering.
The secret to those luxurious hotel beds isn’t expensive bedding. It’s texture:
Mix crisp cotton sheets with fluffy pillows.
Add a chunky knit blanket folded neatly across the bottom.
Layer a soft throw over one corner.
Mix linen with velvet.
Cotton with faux fur.
Different textures make a room feel cosy without looking cluttered.
And don’t underestimate pillows.
You honestly can never have too many.
Large sleeping pillows.
Decorative cushions.
A long bolster pillow.
Maybe even a cute bow-shaped cushion if that’s your style.
The more layers, the more inviting your bed becomes.
Finally, add something that makes you smile.
A teddy you’ve had since childhood.
A Jellycat.
A tiny plush from your favourite film.
Something soft that gives your room personality.
Growing up doesn’t mean your room has to stop feeling comforting.
In fact, I think comfort is the whole point.
Your bed should be somewhere you can’t wait to climb into after a long day.
Style Your Nightstand Like A Pinterest Girl
Your bedside table might be tiny, but somehow it makes a huge difference.
Instead of letting it become a dumping ground for tangled chargers, random receipts and half-empty water bottles, think of it as your little bedside sanctuary.

Start with a lamp.
Not the harsh overhead light that feels like you’re sitting in a hospital waiting room.
A warm lamp completely changes the mood of your room.
Suddenly reading your fave magazine before bed feels cosy.
Late-night journaling feels peaceful.
Even doing homework somehow feels a little less painful.
Next, add a cute tray.
This is honestly one of the easiest styling tricks ever.
Instead of having lip balm, jewellery, perfume and hair clips scattered everywhere, place them neatly on one little tray.
Immediately everything looks intentional.
You can also add your current book, a tiny vase with flowers, your favourite hand cream or a pretty coaster for your evening tea or hot chocolate.
The goal isn’t filling every inch.
Leave a little empty space.
That’s what makes everything feel calm.
Hide The Clutter (Because Clutter Is The Enemy Of Cute Rooms)
Here’s a little secret… The prettiest bedrooms on Pinterest still have clutter - they’ve just hidden it really well.
